Supporting Reconciliation through Theatre Facilitated Dialogue

Berlin Center for Integrative Mediation (CSSP) and Forum for Protection of Public Interest (Pro Public) implemented Supporting reconciliation through theatre facilitated dialogue in different locations of the six districts of Nepal namely Triyuga Municipality of Udayapur, Gauribas Village Development Committee (VDC) of Mahottari, Parroha VDC of Rupandehi, Bijauri VDC of Dang; Binauna VDC of Banke and Gulariya Municipality of Bardiya from 2015 to 2017. The major components of the project are: 1) Capacity building of theatre artists (artists’ laboratory or Training of Trainers (ToT)); 2) Capacity building of dialogue facilitators from selected districts; 3) Multiplication and follow up; 4) Outreach works to policy makers and peace workers in Nepal. The project is funded by the Institut Für Auslandsbeziehungen (IFA) with the means of Federal Foreign Office of the Federal Republic of Germany.

The project aims to increase empathy and strengthen social cohesion in communities that integrated higher numbers of the ex-combatants and conflict victims. By supporting dialogue at the bottom, it would build capacity for reconciliation and healing in the communities.

After successfully completion of the three years project Pro Public is implementing the same in four communities of three (Dhanusha, Mahotari and Dang) districts from September 2018 that aims to promote social cohesion among the interfaith communities.
