How Can Nepal Benefit by Signing ITPGRFA?

Pro Public had conducted research on the International Treaty on Plant Genetic Resources for Food and Agriculture (ITPGRFA) under the Farmers' Rights Program (FRP), Phase II in 2006. The study was conducted to identify the implications of signing the ITPGRFA by Nepal. The study came up with recommendations to the government to sign the treaty since it ensures farmers' rights to seed and benefit sharing in the context of globalization.
