Training on Deepening Empathetic Listening for officers of CIEDP and NHRC, September 2017


Pro Public, with support of GIZ/ZFD, organized a three-day residential training on “Deepening Empathetic Listening” from Sept 15th to 17th, 2017 at Dulikhel, Kavrepalanchowk. The training was attended by 15 participants in total; 3 from National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) and 12 from Commissions of Investigation on Enforced Disappeared Person (CIEDP).

The training intended to enhance participants’ knowledge in regards to Nonviolent Communication (NVC), particularly focusing on empathy, needs, values and feelings, self-care and self-empathy, including sessions on deepening empathic listening. All in all, the training gave an overview on trauma and how to honor the needs of interviewees during conversations and interviews.

For the closing ceremony, Mr. Lokendra Mallik, Chair, and Commission of Investigation on Enforced Disappeared Person was invited as a chief guest. Similarly, Mr. Gajendra Kumar Thakur, Secretary, Ministry of Peace and Reconstruction were invited as a special guest.
