Social Accountability for Gender Equality Project (SAGEP)

Pro Public has been impelementing  "Social Accountability for Gender Equality Project (SAGEP)" in 10 Local Government Units (LGUs) from seven districts of three province, i.e, Nagarain of Dhanusa; and Siraha & Nawarajpur of Siraha in Madhesh; Chaukune of Surkhet, Sanibheri of West Rukum, Dullu & Bhairabi of Dailekh in Karnali and Godabari & Chure of Kailali and Jorayal of Doti in Sudurpaschim). It is a 20 month long project, Jan 2025 to August, 2026, which is led by Pro Public with partnership of two local partners i.e., Youth for Good Governance Promoting (YGGP) Surkhet in Karnali and Needs Nepal in Sudurpanchim with the financial support of the UN Women. Pro Public is intervening directly in Madhesh Province.

The objectives of the project is to enhance the capacity of women and excluded groups to influence decision-making, engage in evidence-based civic dialouge and action , and demand accountability and transparency for gender equality and women's empowerment (GEWE). Utilizing a multi-faceted approach-including human rights-based, Gender-transformative, and evidence-based frameworks-the project will empower organized groups of domestic actors, drawing strength from national legal frameworks rooted in international conventions, covenants, protocols, and treaties to which Nepal is a signatory.
