Public Interest Litigation

Public Interest Litigation (PIL) is an ongoing project of Pro Public. Under the project, Pro Public files cases related to public interests, especially in the interests of the marginalized and diadvantaged sections of the society. At present, Pro Public has been carrying out public interest litigation in the areas of civil liberty and human rights, gender and social justice and environmental rights since September 1994. Initially the program was supported by The Asia Foundation, Kathmandu, Nepal and it is still supporting. Due to the good outcome of the project ARD/ USAID Rule of Law Project is also providing support for new cases and advocacy work of Public Interest Law Firm since February 2006.

The major objective of the project is to promote the rule of law and make the government and concerned authorities accountable in order to promote social justice, good governance and government accountability.
